I won't deny that I'm in love with my D800 and my 14-24mm lens.
The purple light on the righthandside is an indication of the intensity of the auroras. This particular light was moving rapidly over the sky.

Imagine two men in their best age screaming like little girls in excitement of the view and the coincidence/luck this was.
We had an opening of 10 minutes before the sky was completely closed by clouds and rain.

WOW! I'm kind of obsessed with auroras now, unfortunately where I live there is no chance for me to see one! i hope to be able to take a trip in the next year or so somewhere north so I can finally get a glimpse! this is really fantastic, wonderful colors, and the image is so dynamic! Great photo :D
