You Are Not Alone by torivarn You Are Not Alone by torivarn
A starsky captured at Kvænangen in Troms during the late hours of January 15th.
The different lights and shapes you see are ambient light from Oksfjord (a small village), the northern lights and the milky way stretching over the horizon.
The colors are emphasized for artistic purposes.

I hope you guys like it :)

I never said that I like it, I love it...
the first look was like the next gen mac wallpaper then I saw the signature and then I came to know that it is a deviantation. Your work depicts the colorful composition of your vision and the clean curves show the overwhelming technique of yours. Eye-opening, mind-boggling and overcoming are the words that I would use for this awesome piece of artwork. You seem to be a good user of Photoshop. The bug and flaw that I found was with the resolution try marking your resolution more like a standard one.
What do you think?
The Artist thought this was FAIR

30 seconds to overexpose it enough so I could see more stars :)

whaa! that's insane. You lucky guy. In central europe, 30s exp. gets you maybe mag 6 ;-)

sorry, astro talk. mag is a relative measure of brightness of stars. the sun is around -27 and the stars of least brightess visible from earth bare-eyed are around 10 mag.

aah I understand, so mag 6 at 30s exposure would mean that I wouldn't get as many stars?

aragorn20 Featured By Owner Apr 5, 2013
yep. exactly. But the resolution of your image is just insane, considering it was exposed for just 30s...The stars visible there are at least mag 10 ;-)
I haven't had this kind of visibility even in the alps with no cities directly around.

I do shoot with a 36MP camera, so I'm able to capture alot of details and as for the nightsky it's shot with around and ISO of 1600 (I don't know if that has anything to do with mag though (?)
